Yo -Yo Ma

Another of my recent CD aquisitions was this one, Yo-Yo Ma playing Bach's unaccompanied cello suites, recorded in 1990. It is very good.
Years ago, I saw Yo-Yo Ma flying on the shuttle from Washington D.C. to NYC. He had purchased a seat for his cello.
Unfortunately, I am very busy again this week, and not in any way that agrees with me.

Good find! He is one of the best, he was on Sesame Street, like the Diz, Wynton, and Buddy Rich!
He has a summer place here and plays at Tanglewood every year.
After his performance, he often just hangs out. I met him that way. He is a nice guy.
With what his cello is worth, he probably should have bought the plane to transport it, not just a seat!
That is one of the most beautiful recordings I own. Brilliant stuff.
I never saw him on a plane, but he was a student at Harvard when my sister was there! :-)
The best absolutely. He is incredible, close to Glenn Gould in his understanding of counterpoint. Close.

I like Yo Yo Ma, but for me I still love Rostopovich playing these cello pieces. Here is a poor Youtube example, but even then I find it gorgeous. I have the CD you mention as well.

Yes, it is much cheaper to play the flute.
I have that CD too. Isn't it gorgeous music? Yo-Yo Ma is coming here to Bloomington next year. I think tickets are already on sale, but I can't afford one yet -- but I will go one way or another!
