The House That Fear Built*

Living in fear of what a critic like William Logan might say about your work is like living in fear of what Hedda Hopper might say.

An American poet must live more courageously than that.

*The name given by the long-dead gossip columnist Hedda Hopper to her Hollywood home.

I'd rather have Hopper snark at me than Logan. She was better at it.

I have no concern whatsoever that William Logan is going to review my poetry hahaha.

Yep, no fears from me either. Hedda was a far smarter lady than Logan. ;-)

I'll take neither Logan nor Hopper, but wanted to say hi. I see you're another poet gone to law school. I went to grad school in poetry with Leslie and am doing the law school bit now. Please tell me there's light at the end of the tunnel?
