Happy Birthday to...Me!

Today is an important birthday for me, though it is not what some might call my "belly button birthday."
I can tell you that I am grateful to God and for the friends who have helped me along the way. I am grateful for the fellowship to which we belong.
I can tell you that my writing--particularly my poetry--is what I have poured into the emptiness left behind.
It's good that we are not privileged to know the future. Had you told me 17 years ago what my life would be like today, I would not have gone through what I have to get here.
I can tell you that it is a sweet gift.
I can tell you that I would not trade my life today for anyone else's life.

Happy Birthday!
Hey:
Thanks!
That was fast work!
Happy Birthday! That reminds me that it is my niece's thirteenth today.
Good Morning Andrew!
And thank you.
My best to your niece.
I thought I was the only one up at this hour of the morning--though (come to think of it) it must be early afternoon where you are.
Wow, I've never been to a birthday party at 5 am. Still haven't. I'm late but wishing you a very happy birthday (even though by your standards it's probably half over).
Have(had?) a good one. Best wishes.
Happy Birthday.
I can say that I feel the same way most of the time now: that I wouldn't trade my life for anyone else's. Not even the difficult parts. That I actually want to live my life today is a miracle in itself.
Happy Birthday!

Thank you, Leslie, Nick, Jenni and C. Dale.
This is a difficult "birthday" to explain to people, unless they know someone who has been through this. or (J.!) have some direct personal experience with it. I have often had friends (particularly in the first couple of years--those who would still talk to me!) say "Congratulations! You must be so proud of yourself." and I have always had to answer, "Not really."
But grateful, yes. Once I figured out what might be possible and that life would be better, I've been grateful. At least when people would remind me to be grateful.
A day late but with just as many good wishes.
Happy Birthday!
best,
Kelli
Happy birthday just a little late. Hope it was a terrific one!
Hi Greg,
A belated congratulations on the 17 year anniversary. Yes, it's hard to explain to folks who have only been born once, and not twice as William James would say ( but not "born-again," thank god.) Your blog is a high point of my morning at the office when I fire up the computer.
Best,
Dale
Thank you all for the kind words and thoughts.
